This 0.9m feather edge board is a substantial timber fencing board designed for building traditional closeboard fencing and completing strong garden boundary repairs. Its tapered 2ex profile allows each board to overlap the next, creating a solid fence line with excellent privacy and a traditional appearance.

Manufactured with a 125mm width and substantial 22mm thickness, this heavy-duty feather edge board provides a stronger and more robust alternative to lighter standard boards. It is suitable for demanding fencing projects where increased timber thickness and a more substantial finished boundary are preferred.

The timber is pressure treated brown to help improve resistance to rot, fungal decay and general outdoor weathering. The brown finish coordinates well with traditional timber posts, rails, gravel boards and other pressure-treated fencing components.

The 0.9m length is suitable for constructing approximately 3ft-high closeboard fencing, subject to the board position, ground clearance and chosen gravel board. It can also be used to replace individual damaged feather edge boards within a compatible existing fence run.

Installation

Install the board vertically against suitable horizontal back rails or cant rails. Position the thicker edge over the thinner edge of the previous board and maintain a consistent overlap throughout the fence run.

Secure the board using suitable exterior-grade galvanised nails or screws. Avoid placing fixings too close to the board edges and take care not to fix through both overlapping boards in a way that prevents natural timber movement.

Use a suitable gravel board beneath the fencing where appropriate to keep the lower ends away from direct ground contact. A capping rail can be fitted along the top to provide a neat finish and additional weather protection.

Apply a suitable end-grain treatment to any timber exposed by cutting or drilling. Timber is a natural material, so minor variations in colour, grain and dimensions may occur.
