Concrete Intermediate Fence Posts

The Concrete Intermediate Fence Post is designed to support two adjoining fence panels along a straight fence run. Featuring slots on opposite sides, it allows compatible fence panels and gravel boards to slide securely into position while keeping the boundary correctly aligned.

Intermediate posts are used between panels throughout the main length of a fence. Their precast concrete construction provides strong structural support, resists rot and requires less ongoing maintenance than a traditional timber post.

The slotted design creates a practical fencing system in which individual panels and gravel boards can be removed and replaced without dismantling the complete fence run. The post is suitable for use with compatible closeboard, waney lap and decorative timber fence panels.

Concrete intermediate posts are available in selected lengths to suit different panel and gravel board combinations. The correct post length should account for the finished fence height and provide sufficient depth below ground for a secure installation.

Choosing the Right Intermediate Post

Use an intermediate post between two fence panels along a straight section of fencing. It should not be used where the fence finishes, changes direction or branches into three separate fence runs.

Choose a post length that allows for the height of the fence panel, the selected gravel board and sufficient depth below ground. Check that both slots face the correct direction before fixing the post permanently.

Installation

Position the post vertically with its slots aligned to the direction of the fence run. Install it at the correct depth using suitable post-mix concrete and confirm the spacing against the panel width before the concrete begins to set.

Allow the post-mix to set correctly before installing heavy panels or gravel boards. Check for underground pipes, cables and drainage before digging, and use appropriate lifting assistance and protective equipment when handling the post.
