Timber

Explore our range of timber for fencing, landscaping, garden construction and general outdoor projects. Timber is a versatile building material that can be used for structural support, framing, edging, repairs and decorative garden features.

Our range includes pressure-treated timber in selected lengths and section sizes for use with fencing systems, decking, railway sleepers, gates, trellis and landscaping projects. Whether you are completing a small garden repair or planning a larger installation, choosing the correct timber size and treatment is essential.

Pressure treatment helps improve resistance to rot, fungal decay and outdoor weathering, making treated timber suitable for many exterior applications. Timber can also be cut, drilled and fixed on site, providing flexibility for professional installers and DIY projects.

Available products may include rails, battens, posts, gravel boards, decking joists and general-purpose construction timber. Always check the individual product dimensions, treatment and intended use before ordering.

Choosing the Right Timber

Choose the timber section according to the weight, span and purpose of the project. Larger sections are generally more suitable for structural support, while smaller battens and rails may be used for framing, fixing and decorative work.

Select a length that allows for the required cuts while minimising waste. Include an allowance for joints, overlaps and site adjustments when calculating quantities.

Check whether the timber is pressure treated and suitable for the intended application. Timber used near or in the ground may require a treatment class designed for higher moisture exposure.

Installation and Care

Use suitable exterior-grade screws, nails, bolts or brackets for the project. Pre-drilling may help reduce splitting near the ends of some timber sections.

Where pressure-treated timber is cut or drilled, apply a suitable end-grain treatment to exposed areas. Keep timber raised from wet ground where possible and provide adequate drainage around outdoor structures.

Inspect timber periodically for movement, damage or prolonged moisture exposure. Additional timber treatment may be applied where appropriate to maintain the desired appearance.
